Sir,

With reference to my despatch No. 368 of this date and previous correspondence relating to the erection of new Law Courts, and to the correspondence relating to the question of a Peak Residence for the Governor, I have the honour to transmit for your information the enclosed letter from the Honourable the Director of Public Works in which he asks that application may be made through the Crown Agents for an Assistant Engineer to supervise the work on the Law Courts and the Peak residence.

2. I have ascertained that an extra officer to assist in this work is urgently required, and I therefore recommend that the Crown Agents be given the necessary instructions as early as possible.

Enclosure 24 in duplicate.
